Splashing Back

Arts Council Toowomba, Flood Recovery Project

Arts Council Toowoomba volunteers developed and delivered a flood recovery project, Splashing Back following the January 2011 flood that devastated the heart of Toowoomba.

Twenty two artists expressed interest and ten were selected by a Public Art Advisory group to go from design to fabrication.

Ten mosaic artworks have been installed throughout the community on the walls of Picnic Point Toowoomba, Andersen’s Flooring, DRTV, Treg Smith Auto, Cossarts, Brumbys Go!, Lifeline, The Spotted Cow, McNab constructions and Southern Queensland Institute of TAFE.

Tiles within each mosaic link to unique to video stories of each business in an interactive art trail accessed by smart phones, iPads and other devices.
